This is like watching the top 10 of Christianity.
Thank you, Bishop Barron. I appreciate your honest to God intellectualism without any trace of arrogance or stuffiness.
We need more people like you!
I love that you chose whom you have chosen for your pivotal player (not gonna spoil it for the people who haven't seen). Keep up the good work and may God bless you.

Bishop Barron! We just got done with the first Pivotal Players with my Devoted Messengers of Christ group up in Calgary. The group grew every week and we can't wait for the second batch

Thanks because yes we're in a crisis. Let the saints stand out. 😇

The biggest issue with many spiritual organizations today, is they have lost their spirituality, for a pursuit to gain wealth, popularity, politics, etc. Many leave their practitioners empty spiritually, and they don't transform them towards spiritual purification and wisdom.

I very much agree with the Bishop. The Church needs the Saints as role models for the lost sheep (like me too) in time of crisis, and not only

Bishop Barron!

You surely won't remember this, but long ago I asked you, here on YT, what your favorite/special place in the world was (based on your commentary of Kenneth Clarke's "Civilization" who chose the Pazzi Chapel in Florence). You answered it was Chartres Cathedral for you. I notice that in your commentaries you clearly have a love for that place. So, I wanted to know if you like the relatively recent and quite controversial restoration they did on the Cathedral?

Just today I learned the famous Black Madonna was alarmingly made white by the restorers, which is weird to me because I thought it was significant in light of the OT "nigra sum sed formosa" attributed to Mary and Her spirit of obedience.

Thanks and God bless you!

I would say, speaking from experience, that the sexual predator scandal unveiled a crisis already in the making.  That said, I am a great admirer of Bishop Barron. He seems to live the motto of St. Josephs Oratory here in Detroit: "Living the truth in charity."

"The most pivotal player"? I believe Chesterton referred to Him as "The Everlasting Man".

Bishop Barron has st. Ireneaus been cut out of the pivotal players series?

Bishop Barron, I just recently found out that many of the "pivotal players" practiced self-flagellation. I was always under the interpretation that this was a sin, and kind of masochistic. St Thomas More, St Catherine of Siena, St Theresa Avila, St Mother Theresa, and there are even claims of St Pope John Paul II practicing this self-flagellation. I am deeply distressed. This seems like it would be a mortal sin to me. I understand the importance of fasting, and disciplining the body when the soul is willing, but the flesh is weak; however, self-mutilation in any form has always seemed sinful to me. I understand taking up your cross, for this is truly "the way, " but this seems to be more than taking up your cross.

Do you have any words of consolation?

I think Christ should head the list of pivotal players

I love Benedict.
I teach him with great gusto.
He is a pivotal player, absolutely.
His rule is a gem of Catholic Church history.
However, the so-called "Benedict Option" is not what the Church needs to embrace in today's world. We need evangelization and missionary activity to the hilt because millions of Christians today have lost their way throwing their lot in with the "prosperity Gospel" and worship of mammon. Retreat into insular communities of only fellow "traditionalist" Catholics is a horrible idea and does not sound like what Christ would want for His Church.

>mentions saints who lived Christianity radically
>doesn’t mention St. Josemaria Escriva
>Opus Dei disappointed

You think the correct response to the sex scandal would be to let priests be able to get married and procreate which is God's command for us. Not having heirs is no longer paying off with all these lawsuits.
