I have one of these that has motherboard #4.

Great computer with software controlled accuracy out to 26 (I think) digits.

Basic was also great and the word processor was amazing.

I did that. I started in 1975 at Poly and wrote the BIOS, then came up with the hardware hack to disable it :-) I was there till the end. It was all 8080 assembly language, which is like building a house out of toothpicks. Lots of the time we spent squashing code down to fit. The System 88 OS was very nice - long file names, great text editor, WP, BASIC - way beyond CPM. We started with almost no software development tools and had to cobble everything up from scratch on an Imsai with almost no RAM. We should have turned the corner and become a supplier of software and hardware in the IBM PC space.

That RCA display/terminal is really beautiful.

This video was NOT filmed using an Altair 8800 clone!

Unexpected, but still very interesting.

Just saw an ad for this in Byte, can't decide between this or the Apple II. This system would look better alongside my stereo setup and TV but it doesn't have color graphics.

If CP/M was so popular, then how did DOS end up trumping it in the 80s?
