Grace Lee Boggs (1915-2015) became an icon or radical, intersectional activism. Her political and philosophical journey began with her studies of Hegelian dialectics and development of Marxist humanism in conjunction with C.L.R. James and Raya Dunayevskaya. During the 1960s and 1970s, she and James Boggs, an African American autoworker from the Jim Crow South, emerged as leading theoreticians of the Black Power movement. They envisioned revolutionary reconstruction of society as the next stage following the rebellions that destabilized the social order. As a movement elder (featured in the film "American Revolutionary"), Grace projected a post-capitalist vision of hope and rebirth rising out of the ashes of industrial decay from grassroots struggles in Detroit.
