As an American in Idaho I wish our governments would require religions to give an accounting. Our tithing slips literally state that the church can allocate the money you give them any way they want not how you mark it on the tithing slips. You may designate $100 for humanitarian aid and they could use that donation to help buy a$148million dollar hotel in Hawaii from brother Marriott like they just did.

The dollar amount of donations to the church in comparison to the very small number of active members is incredible!!!

Hey, Nemo! My husband died a few months ago and I was informed that his membership will remain on the church records (and counted as a member) until he would have become 110 tears old (or 32 years).. This also meant our daughter who died 11 years ago at the age of 26 will still be counted as an active member of the church until 2094!!! I could be wrong, but that's what church leadership told me....just one of SO MANY reasons I'm resigning.

I do appreciate your ability to get to the point and clarify the issues in less than an hour podcast. Some other podcasts are onerous to listen to their laborious 3 to 4 hour podcasts.

I wasn't aware of the 2nd Rexburg temple until you mentioned it. I lived near there for about a decade before moving back east where the church has almost zero influence, and certainly isn't a topic of conversation in the communities at large. Much better.

Nemo, I’m a happy-go-lucky person from Boise, Idaho. Thank you for producing this content about financial transparency.

WOW Nemo...you find the best sources and people! It's hard for the church to argue against its own report that they have been having to submit yearly all these years. I suspect that the money isnt touched as a way of remaining out of any danger of losing their charitable status
lest they misstep with any of the funds.

If thats even partly true, they just dont seem to care how much their financial bottom lines cost the UK people and if it involves a complete nonsensicle neglect of the members needs there. I don't understand how the members there can stomach the second class status the American corporation distains them with. I guess they don't know. Thank God for your guest shedding some light on this. It's downright disgraceful!

I actually would have thought that, since the funds are visible in England, they would have used a lot there. I feel like that would have helped with their optics and PR because people will naturally try to extrapolate from their funds there to guess at what they're doing elsewhere.

Great info! Thanks to both of you! Oh, how I wish we had this requirement in the US.

This makes me sick! Shame on them. How many YM and YW presidents use some of their own money for activities? The fact that the perpetual education fund has never been touched is disgusting. God I hate this church!

This video was a really great eye opener into the financial system of the church

I know I’m crazy behind catching up on these old videos but thank you so much for leaving them up and continuing to produce more!!!

The fact that the church is among the top charities in the UK is a great thing! However, we all know they could easily be the number one charity in the UK and in most other countries as well and they should do more to do that. With over 100 billion dollars stockpiled, they could be doing so much more charity in the world and making a real difference

Thanks again Nemo! Always good spot on and fair content! See you next year for the financial update. And everywhere in-between.

We were told by our denomination that we are not allowed to sit on large reserves without a clear plan for them (like funding for particular project) but not just sitting there for years. And that this had come from charity commission rules that charities should be spending their income on their charitable objects. Surely if lds UK are sitting on tithes and offerings that are not be used as given for then CC ought to look into that. Especially if those funds were collected for eg education fund that not being run at all.

When you get a STIPEND for clothing, auto, gas, utilities, housing, collage, food, health care, phone, cable, internet, plus your wage how could you think it's not a good wage?

I shared this idea elsewhere but the church ought to replace “Every Member a Missionary” with “Every Member a Millionaire!” That wouldn’t only boost membership numbers, but it would help economies and communities. Besides, the members will turn around and pay 10% of it back to them when they get it! Win-win! I’d consider rejoining for a million dollar sign on bonus!
Edit: my math is completely wrong haha! How embarrassing! Still, the church is stinkin rich. Not every member could be made a millionaire
