Lyrics:

Oh Shenandoah,
I long to see you,
Away you rolling river.
Oh Shenandoah,
I long to hear you,
Away, I’m bound away
Across the wide Missouri.

Oh Shenandoah,
I love your daughter,
Away you rolling river.
For her I’d cross
Your roaming waters,
Away, I’m bound away
Across the wide Missouri.

She’d caught caught the eye

Of wanderin’ trappers

Away you rolling river

And there I knew
I had to snap her
Away, I’m bound away
Across the wide Missouri.

Oh for her I would have no other

Away you rolling river

She would not take me for a lover

Away, I’m bound away
Across the wide Missouri.

Oh Shenandoah, I'm bound to leave you
Away, you rollin' river
Oh Shenandoah, I 'll not deceive you
Away, I’m bound away
'Cross the wide Missouri.

As a folk music lover, a dedicated Colm Mcguinness fan, and a resident of Shenandoah, I absolutely cannot wait for this!!!

Colm and Savannah, this was insanely good. The combination of Colm's rumbling and powerful tune and Savannah's ethereal voice... just wow...

Not many people can do this song justice. Colm and Savannah did.

They are singing about some places I've never been to, but their voices make me miss those places. Amazing.

The connection between irish and country american music is beautiful, and shenandoah is a perfect example of it

The American folk song "Shenandoah" has a mysterious and contested origin. It's believed to have first emerged in the early 19th century, possibly sung by French-Canadian voyageurs who journeyed down the Missouri River. The song's lyrics, filled with longing and references to a Native American chief's daughter, eventually made their way onto sailing ships. By the mid-1800s, "Shenandoah" had solidified as a popular sea shanty, used to coordinate tasks onboard.

I miss my home in Missouri, the Ozarks are beautiful, rolling hills covered with rich forests, clear springs, and my town planted honey suckles so that everytime it rained the air smelled clean.

Why do you do this to me, McGuinness? I get all excited to see an upload only to have a day's wait.

This gives me a reason to ask if Country Roads could be next with you two

So I work with developmentally disabled adults. I work with one individual who loves music, and when I play this particular song, he’ll sing along to it, and the look on his face is so bright. Thank you for providing me and the people I serve with joy and helping build bonds

I grew up right next to the Shenandoah my man -- went to undergrad in the Shenandoah Valley as well. This one hits close to home -- we always finished with this song in choir, and I also sing an operatic version of it. Much love ❤

She has a sweet voice. Clear notes and smooth transitions between notes.
Nice!

I wasn't too sure initially about the timing of some of the words, but it did grow on me. The wife and I both love to listen to your music!

This is one of those songs I just keep coming back to. I sat on my porch yesterday with a cigar and watched the sunset to this. It was the most at peace I have been in a while.
