This is a Bulgarian song yes! I tried to translate the lyrics even though it is quite hard because of the language. ENJOY!

Fell the mountain
That buried two shepherds,
That buried two shepherds
Two shepherds and friends.

The first one prays, let me go
My sweetheart awaits me,
The second one begs, let me go
My old mother is waiting for me.

The mountain opens
And keeps two shepherds,
Sweetheart grieves one day till noon
Mother grieves to the grave.

Why am I only discovering this now? A new world opened for me tonight, discovered so many Bulgarian artists. I'll be spending my December holidays reading up and discovering more about this fascinating culture...

I am not a religious man in any way what so ever, but this is one of the most beautiful songs I have ever listened to, actually make this the best that I have ever listened to! This is truly amazing and makes you think about who you are, what you are doing, and why you are here! Truly amazing, this song is to be played at my funeral!

I am from India.... Heard this song in another compilation.... Dont understand the language but the music... Its very much like the music of nature.... It seems to be telling about the feelings of a mother when, even if she doesnt want to but has to has to let go of her child so that he can learn to live and survive in this cruel world.

This is one of the most beautiful and most moving songs I've ever heard. The first time I heard a great documentary Planette "Balkan Melodies". Then came the time for a fantastic series "Le Mystère des Voix Bulgares".
