'tHooft and Polyakov monopoles

In this podcast, we look at the bosonic Georgi-Glashow model which is an O(3) Gauge group coupled with the fundamental Higgs. Analysing the symmetry of this model, we go on to discuss the 'tHooft-Polyakov ansatz, and try to find a solution of the field equations. Now, understanding this topologically, we find that the magnetic charge is a topological invariant!
