UTN Experience Cubes, Nuremberg University of Technology (UTN)

The UTN is a technical university under construction in Nuremberg, Bavaria. With a consistently interdisciplinary approach, an innovative range of subjects, new teaching methods and a forward-looking organizational structure, a university with a model character in teaching and research is to be created.Hüttinger was commissioned with the planning and construction of the visitor center UTN Experience Cubes so that everyone can experience how UTN is being built. The visitor center looks like a space station on a distant planet. Four angular pavilions connected by metal walkways stand on the site where the university will be built. In the Experience Cubes, visitors can now click their way through a campus model. They learn that a freight station once stood here, where the first buildings are growing in height and how these are supplied with energy. A second cube deals with digitization and how the university plans to implement it in its teaching, administration and research. If necessary, the cubes can be moved with a truck-mounted crane and set up in a different location on the grounds, depending on where construction is underway. The exhibits inside can also be expanded and replaced; after all, the university is always evolving and the cubes are expected to be used for decades. That's how long it will take to finish building on the 37-hectare site. After that, the cubes could even be equipped with benches and serve as study rooms or additional seating for a cafeteria. This fall, the first course of study will start at the @technischeuniversitatnurnb1137 .
