I am 76 and I have just discovered this piece of music
Thank you so much for writing it
And to those dear people who went you are amazing and so brave - thank you so much more
Why do still have to have war?
I mean the human race has evolved so much especially in the last 100 years
Why can’t we settle our political differences by just communicating not confronting?

I was there at the age of 19. I was extremely fortunate, not a grunt and never humped it in the jungle. Still I have from PTSD and consider myself extremely blessed to be alive. God bless those troops that never made it back.

I was 15 when this came out and today I'm 56 and still my favourite song. The 80s were the best decade for music and Paul Hardcastle is one of yhe best 👌

I joined the US Army 1976 and was in after the war. I saw the effects of the Vietnam war on my fellow soldiers. They came back to hatred and protests. Disillusioned about their reason for being there. They fought tough battels and watch many of their brothers die. Vietnam veterans I salute you and thank you for your, scarifies in the field of Vietnam. 19 was the average age. Love you all brothers.

I loved this when it came out in 1985, England, we couldnt stop talking about the video at school, it was our Bohemian Rhapsody moment if you like, our history teacher, took the opportunity to teach us briefly about the Vietnam war, how it started why the Americans got involved. Bloody horrific really,
She was asked will their ever be a time when there will be no wars in the world?
No she said, because there is no profit in peace.
And most of our world leaders are fanatics.
Prophetic words indeed.

A friend of mine who was a medic told me about how he had to change before walking through the airport to come home so the public wouldn't see he was a soldier. And another who had bullet holes all over his body from being shot. He was on tough SOB! Miss you John. Salute to all who served in NAM. No they definitely did not get the respect they deserved.

A Family Freind Of Ours Was A -Tunnel Rat - in Vietnam. He didn't talk about it much. But Basically he was given a flashlight and a pistol to go clear out underground tunnels. War is pure HELL.
