Tony Bennett has Alzheimer’s disease, his wife Susan Benedetto revealed on “CBS This Morning.” The 94-year-old legendary singer has kept the diagnosis under wraps since 2016. “We came home one night after a show and said to me, ‘Susan, you know, I can't remember the musicians’ names,’” Benedetto said. Bennett is most lucid when singing his classic songs and never forgets a single lyric, his wife said. During the coronavirus pandemic, Bennett has been recording concerts from home. #InsideEdition

People with Alzheimer’s they usually forget more recent events or memories but remember more the old ones

Watched on December 1, 2022... even though I've been aware of Tony's Alzheimer's since it was officially announced in 2021.

My Dad has the beginning of dementia and my Uncle died from complications of Alzheimer's.
I thought that something looked off in Tony's eyes. You can usally notice it in the eyes first along with small things. That is why we approached my dad's doctor. We thought something was off and sure enough looking at a scan from 5 years prior they finally noticed. They had been so focused on another area after a stroke that they didn't notice.
It is incredibly sad to see the person you know slipping away.
My dad is now 75, he has had it at least since he was 70. But my Uncle got it in his early 50's (really rare) and died a couple years later. For him it was really sad because he was still totally fit and built like a football player.

Often people with dementia and Alzheimers remember their favorite song, when all else is forgotten.
