As a Millennial, Forever 21 will always have fond memories. The malls were still very popular and a fun hang out spot for teens.

I have a feeling malls will make a comeback in the next decade. I say this because we'll get tired of living on our phones and crave more physical companionship. Also, who else is kinda tired of buying shit online and it doesn't fit, looks awful, and has horrible fabric? I think most of us would rather touch, feel, and try on. Plus you could eat there, see a movie (we'll see if Hollywood wants to stop making shitty movies with an occasional hit), do an activity, get some ice cream, hang with friends, etc. :}

Omg I remember these fast fashion stores. Wet seal, Charlotte Russe, Rainbow (lol), Forever 21 were the “it” stores in the 90s.

When I was 14, I started shopping at forever 21.. at some point I ended up managing one store. Those were good times before Temu and Sheen. I don’t believe this company failed. I believed it thrived as long as it could.

It became cheap with extremely low quality fabric. No thanks.

Forever 21 lost its space because it located itself in Areas that had Macy's, Hudson Bay and other high value stores. Forever 21 needed to sell hundred of thousands of merchandise per month to just cover cost. Forever 21 could have located themselves in cheaper areas. Rent and employees was what Forever 21 spent the most money on. Fast Fashion will always be here the problem is how long will the conscious buyer continue to support fast fashion?

Forever21 was an overpriced SHEIN. But now even SHEIN is overpriced.

I'm not sure that I agree that Forever 21 doesn't align with the "values" of Gen Z. If social responsibility or sustainability were values that Gen Z cared about like this video claims, Shein would not be so popular. I think it's more fair to say that there are two types of shoppers- those that care about convenience (a majority) and those that care about responsibility (a minority). Those who care about convenience and being at the cutting edge of fashion will shop online at Shein or Fashion Nova. Those who care about sustainability won't shop at shein, but also won't shop at forever 21 either since they're barely better. So Forever 21 is stuck not being particularly good by any measurement.

Like this video pointed out, Forever 21 used to have market dominance because it was the fastest and trendiest place to buy clothing at a low price. Now Shein is faster, cheaper, and trendier. That's all there is to it. It's not like Shein is more sustainable, it's even less so than Forever 21.

Fast fashion is a poison. Good riddance!

Forever 21’s rapid expansion killed their business. The big box stores that were opened were never successful or necessary. That was WAY before the e-commerce boom.

They also went through a restructure (2015) that operationally took them away from the brand, ultimately being the demise of the company.

Low prices? Everytime I went I couldn’t even buy anything bc it was so costly!! The clothes weren’t even worth the high prices. $34 for some sandals that will probably break in 4 months lmao.

I loved forever 21 :) Sad when it fell out of trends. It’s tough out there.Hopefully, the family stuck together. Fast money, fast, good. SHEIN was an extremely poor quality product.

Shein and Temu killed Forever 21. Plus they opened too many stores. I still shop at Forever 21 store and online

while it's very possible to tell that none of the actual writing/editing for this video was done solely with AI, you may want to not use an AI voice in the future? just because people really tend to click off immediately once they hear that distinctive tone

I buy 90 % clothes online online or make it myself. The problem is these retailers only make clothes to 2 body types. So its hard to find clothing that actually looks good me in stores.

Another problem is Theres such a lack of VARIETY in the stores. Theres a lack of colors, lack of styles, and lack of accomadation for different body types. You will be forced to look like a CLONE and wear unflattering clothes if you just shopped these brick and mortar retailers.

I love shopping at Forever 21! It’s much easier to find fashion clothing that fit at reasonable prices compared to other competitors! I hope that it will stick around forever! ❤❤❤

I worked at Forever21 last summer, and am not surprised it's really going down now. I would be shocked if they didn't completely liquidate, because even the store i worked at was super depressing and not what it once was when I visited it as a kid. I'll miss Forever21, but I know it's not the same store pre vcovis

Makes no sense for people to kill Forever 21 to then go to Shein like they’re any better 😂
