Remember going to Blockbuster and talking to strangers about movies?

It was a beautiful time.

I used to work at a Blockbuster and I remember how cool it was to be able to get the first VHS copy of a movie everyone was waiting for. I felt so privilege back then to work in such an awesome place. That was Puertorican privilege.

We should honestly bring this back. I understand we have easier access to movies through streaming services but the whole experience was amazing especially as a child. I remember my grandma and grandpa used to go to blockbuster buster every weekend and one time she took me with to return some movies for my grandpa. I remember seeing the shelves lined up with dvd cases and it even had a certain smell. It smelled like the plastics wrapped dvd cases throughout the whole store. I seen fantastic four rise of the silver surfer and begged my grandma to rent it for me and she did on top of the movies for her and my grandpa. I remember being so excited to get home and watch the movie. I miss those times

Back then, the only way you can preview a movie from a DVD is looking at the cover photo and asking the person working there whether is the movie any good. Simple times, and I enjoy the excitement of rushing home to turn on my TV and having absolutely no idea whether the movies I rented are good or bad.

There’s a reason all the most watched movies across all streaming platforms were made, pre-streaming platforms.

The 80s and the 90s in the early 2000s was peak, VHS and DVD era and I’m glad I grew up in it and enjoyed the mom and Pop video store and blockbuster

Or maybe don’t pay actors as much? Idk just a thought 💭

Movies don’t suck because people no longer buy DVDs, which some people still do some people even still buy digital assets that apparently they don’t even own, which is a fun concept but movie suck because Hollywood hasn’t had original thought in decades and can’t come up with decent content

The implication that they make zero revenue from streaming because DVDs are gone is such a joke.

I loved growing up in the 90s because we had no internet and everything was so much simpler. Miss those days
