“Consent for genocide is manufactured here”
US police have arrested 124 pro-Palestine protesters who blocked the New York Times headquarters in Manhattan, New York, over its coverage of war waged by Israel on besieged Palestinians.
The Palestinian Youth Movement and Writers Against the War on Gaza, which co-organised the protest, said that activists interrupted the distribution of the daily after blocking one of its printing plants in Queens and occupied the lobby of headquarters while the chairman was giving his annual “State of the Times” address.
The grassroot movement accuses the newspaper of showing the “worst journalistic malpractices and most genocidal propaganda of the year”, calling readers to cancel their subscriptions with the “New York Crimes”.
“We receive criticism from each side. We are open to good-faith disagreement but firmly reject any assertion that our coverage displays bias,” the New York Times claimed in a statement shared with ABC.
The statement concluded with a message that they will not let critics or advocacy campaigns sway them from “independent reporting”.
