Dart Manipulation: How to Create a Mid-Shoulder Dart

• In this video, Nick shows you how to manipulate darts using the Slash & Spread method.
• Flat PATTERN MAKING depends on previously developed patterns as a base for creating DESIGN patterns.
• The chosen working pattern is usually the ONE-DART BODICE. That's the pattern we are going to use here.
• This is a lesson in using that ONE-DART SLOPER and changing it into another useful pattern.
• SLASH & SPREAD is the method used here to MANIPULATE THE DARTS: Putting darts in other places.
• We manipulate the dart placements by...."Slashing" & "Spreading" the actual patterns.
• I am going to show you how to MOVE your Dart into another location. In this video we will be moving it to the SHOULDER, creating a Mid-Shoulder Dart.

I know why you drop the apex of the dart away from the bust point but why do you offset the punch hole by 1/2" from the apex of the dart?
