Wow. That was something seeing you sit on a fully loaded, fully extended drawer and it didn't budge!!

Don't forget to check the drawer depth against the tools you have. The standard sockets and mid length generally fit in most of them. However if you have a full set of 1/4, 3/8, 1/2 inch tools and have deep well sockets they may not be able to stand up in many of the box store boxes. Laying them down is an option but they take up more room that way.
Having owned pretty much every brand of box, don't get fixated on a brand name. Buy the box that suits your needs.

There is a tool box company called styrke that is made in red deer Alberta. They look really heavy duty and are fairly priced, a 72 inch long 28 inch deep roll cab is around $5000 Canadian. I have been working out of a 80s Mac tool box I got 7 years ago for $200 when I first started. I run a service truck so I don't use my tool box very often. But I have been looking at up grading and they seem like a really good brand and nice to support a company that is made in Canada

I'm a retired hd truck tech and to me snap on is the best, not cheap but very good, and after 35 years in the field I have a lot of tools, but you have to decide on your own my snap on is now home in my garage, I love it

Watch the tool truck brands, they tend to be at 2-3 times where they should be priced, plus interest. Looks for used tool truck brands, or go with new(or used) “off the tool truck” brands. I’ve been doing repairs professionally since 1981, I sure wish I had some of that high end tool box money back. Spend it on the tools themselves. ;)

Thanks for the info, have been an airplane mechanic for many years and want to upgrade my box. Would like to see you do a video on custom tool boxes &/or modifications. I think I want to build my box with special features.

Do you have a recommendation for something above Husky, Mastercraft, etc. but not crazy expensive like Snap-On? I need to replace a 25 year old Mastercraft (it's 27" and I want to go to 41") but the new ones are crap by comparison. Thin material and wobbly drawers.

I like your thoughts on how to start and upgrade.

Casters are a big thing. You want the casters to be the absolute best they can be. If your casters can’t support too much, or last too long. You’re fucked.

Thanks for trying. I was actually hopping for more detailed advice, more beyond common sense tips.

Hello Sly/Get Fixing
I just subscribed to your channel. All of the comments are very good advice. However, for us Aircraft Mechanics. We have to move our tool boxes around the Aircraft and to different hangers. And sometimes you have to make a long walk. If you have a extremely heavy box, before adding tools. Sometimes you might have access to a forklift, job done. But if you don't have a forklift, you just made a long walk, longer and harder.

It wasn't until I found out about the empty weight of quite a few of the tool boxes being 200lbs plus, empty. I would like my Toolbox to be sturdy. But it shouldn't weigh a ton in process. As I am researching for my next Toolbox. Any good suggestions would be appreciated. Right now I am working out of a Craftsman 9-drawer, roughly 40" wide x 18" deep. Thank you for the 20% rule that may help me my make decision. Again thank you.
