French President Emmanuel Macron is reportedly trying a last minute “roll of the dice” in order to save his party and prevent a right-wing Marine Le Pen government, after his disastrous decision to call a snap election.

Author Stephen Clarke explains to Talk's Kevin O'Sullivan the French election is a "two-round" process. He says: "First of all, dozens of candidates standing and the top two go through to the second round."
