W230 looks gorgeous - I'm seriously considering getting one

My choice for the most enjoyable bike and the one I would like to see sell is the W230. I think that would be the one more people would regret selling. I know for myself and I would say most long time motorcycle riders, the one bike they have the fondest memories of are small bikes. I think for most people the W230 will do 95% of what they use a motorcycle for. Sure people say they need 100hp but how often do they use even 50hp on their 100hp bike? I sure didn't think I would use my 250, 17hp bike as much as I do but, over 90% of the time, that's the one I bring out of the garage. Except for the freeway, it has no trouble keeping up with traffic. If you're a new rider, start out on the W230 and if you want a bigger bike, buy one but, keep your W230. If it turns out you don't use it, sell it after a year.

The Kawasaki W230 has got a traditional instrument cluster, no App conection and a weight of less than 150kg. That's why i ordered one at my local Dealer. It should be at my dealer sometime in february. Kawasaki Germany will also offer an USB-C socket, a luggage rack and knee pads as extras, but they haven't announced the prices for them yet.
When I wrote on a facebook group that I ordered one I got a reply from someone in sweden that they will hardly get them there and another one from england who wrote that they won't get them at all.

Nice bikes and comparison, thanks! A 230 single engine could be a challenge on freeways maybe. Not sure. The Ninja 250R 8 valves, 2 cylinder engine surprisingly could handle freeways and roads with no problems most times if not afraid to rev up. Only limit was it would level out in 6th gear going up a steeper hill so passing wasn't an option uphill. Level and downhill, no problem at speed limits range of other vehicles.

You get the W230 for the looks if your into that retro style. Its also good for surface streets. I got one to ride around town in style.

Now that is a very interesting review. I don't think you get to see such comparisons often. In your previous, video about W230, Peter, you said that you'd prefer the smaller Kawasaki to its bigger brother W800 due to its weight. Maybe it is just me, but I find it difficult to imagine W230 and W800 side by side and see how different they are and what makes one better the other. It would be great if you could do a review comparing the two and highlighting their strong and weak points.

I went to the dealership here in Thailand and sat on the w230. It’s a good looking bike, and my intention was to buy one and turn it into a worthy and fun scrambler.
But, when I sat on it, my knees were too high, kind of floating above the tank. My feet were too high, so are the foot pegs.
So, it’s not useful for converting to a scrambler because it is difficult to stand up from the seated position due to the high foot pegs.
I’m 5’9” with a 31” inseam with boots on.
For me, I know this bike will be awkward in traffic and probably will be hard on my back because of the seating position with my frame size.
If you are 5’6” or below, it would be great.

I still say they should have made a W400 or around that. It should have had about 30hp at least. The reason I say that is that you should be able to do 65mph and not be at or nearly at 100%. It's never good to be at your limit with nothing left. There are plenty of people out there that want a good looking standard motorcyle that doesn't look like a praying mantis or some weird Harley/plastic amalgam, but still need to be able to get out of the way of traffice, WHILE not having to pay $12, 000 out the door for a 800, like the W800. Give us a good four digit, inexpensive, no frills, metal and chrome motorcycle with analog dials with enough power to hang with modern traffic. Here in the southern US, people drive 10-15mph ABOVE the speed limit. That means that even in 50mph zones, the W230 would be outclassed. And with the proliferation of the abominations that are 5, 000lb SUVs and pickup trucks, that's a death wish. Heck, even your standard econobox nowadays makes 150hp or more. The bike should be cheaper, and/or they should have put a bigger air cooled motor in it.

If I were in charge of Kawasaki, I would drop the price of the W230 (and the W800 too for that matter), and slot a 400-500cc model right in between them. W450 anyone?

Peter i would Take the Eliminator. Peter can you please do a Review of the HONDA GB350 S that is now avalable in Europe & i think US. I PLAN to buy the Honda & Share it with my son whow is now 16 ( 6ft2“)& getting a 125 cc licence. I HAVE a Honda Scooter sh 125 at the Moment that he will Ride once he geht’s his licence. Later when he is 18 & has the A2 licence he can Take the 350 & I will Upgrade the 125 to adv 350. I want my son to Ride the 350 with 20 ps & 29 nm torque so he will NOT have a fast bike to learn as in Germany on certain roads there Are no Speed Limits . Later he can Upgrade the 350 to class A licence bike if he wants.
Thanks for your Review.
I did Test Ride the eliminator & it fehlt Like it was on rails on the bend. I did Not Like the pillion Seat as very small & I think the bike does Not Look Neat & TIDY as the vulcan s.

The brakes (rotor size/number of pistons, etc) have nothing to do with a bike going fast. It is due to the overall weight going at projected highway speeds.

Für mich ist die W230 die bessere Wahl. Das Gewicht ist ausschlaggebend.

so finally the lower CCs' bikes reach to America :) Inflation is bad ! I always imagined Americans giving reviews and riding heavy-duty Harleys and big cruisers.

The plastic look and flat black engine, pipes, bars, mirrors, etc., are too Rebel-esque, which is not a good thing.
