Sea Fishing - Sunny Skegness with Surprise Catch

After a productive week off work, we decided we would spend a couple days visiting Sarah's parents in Skegness. Staying on a caravan site down the road from them, which just happened to back on to the beach.

Say no more. I snuck a limited amount of tackle in the car, and after spending the day with the family and walking the dogs, I head off to the beach in search of peace, quiet and some fish.

Fishing as always with my Akios Fury FX420's, Penn Spinfisher reels, Shakespeare Salt tripod, Berkley Whiplash braid and Mike's Rigs.

Good wee video man, nice turbo also.
I was at Skye at the weekend, put in a good 30 odd hours on the pier.
Ended up with 4 spurdogs around the 14lb mark
5 doggies
4 thornbacks(3lb ish)
1 short spined sea scorpion.
1 massive edible brown crab and around a dozen mackerel between 2 of us.
Beautiful weather😎.
We took a load of frozen bait with us which was ok, but once the mackerel started to show we started using fresh, that was an absolute game changer no question about it.
Bugger of a place to land the spurdogs tho with that 3 metal posts at the bottom of the steps.
Note for next time, bring a big landing net.

Glad that turbo went back. Nice fish but it didn’t look 41cm to me. Minimum sizes are there for a reason. Nice video. Thanks for filming, editing and uploading 😊

Question are you using braid and if so how do you get on with a shockleader [or do you go straight through?]
