The debate between meticulous planning and immediate action in the context of project management is one that has long intrigued both professionals and enthusiasts alike. Each approach carries its own set of advantages and disadvantages, and the optimal choice often depends on the nature of the project, the circumstances surrounding it, and the personalities of the individuals involved. In this essay, we will delve into the importance of planning for a project versus the merits of simply getting started, and explore how these strategies influence the outcome of endeavors.

Hey Mariana, Thank you for the Video for tackling this planning phase of projects. I, myself was kind of a guy who just starts working on a project to get it started and figure out the later stuff while doing it. Although, When I started doing actual professional projects for real clients. I realized planning is really important for that, I started planning and creating a layout for what are the tasks and what are limitations and what issues that could occur, Also, it helps me sometimes when I wanna reflect on my old projects and what could I improve in my execution. Thank you for the video as always :).

Planning can take a dark turn. So be aware why you might be inclined to plan in the first place.
It is a kind of magical thinking when you believe that by planning you can achieve safety because you will be prepared for everything that could potentially go wrong (you never assume it might go right, otherwise you wouldn't overplan/overthink). You simply do not have that ability to know, nobody does, that level of control does not exist. You will ultimately fail and slowly erode your belief in yourself...and try even harder next time.
(i.e. "unplanned" situation -> perceived loss of control in the present for something that could be happening in the future -> anxiety/stress -> planning = control = safety). By planning, you avoid feeling negative emotions. Anxiety, fear of failure, shame, overwhelm, feeling not good enough/stupid, etc.
Also, planning can take on obsessive aspects (not being able to NOT plan anymore as it's become a form of self-soothing, prepare for any situation, catastrophizing).
Plus it also gives you (and your brain) the illusion that you've already done something, so you might not take REAL action anymore.
And lastly, I think that planning has taken on its own life in the craze for self-optimization. Not every small, everyday life event needs to be elaborately planned for you to be that Type A-personality you so desperately want to be.
Doing trumps planning anytime and half-assed is okay/better than nothing.
