Stephen Dillane was fantastic in this movie. Shame Game of Thrones could not make more use of him. Just imagine him being in season 8. IMO got suffered a little in acting department after Charles Dance and Dillane left.

A fierce warrior king who destroyed the Welsh princes and brought Scotland nearly to heel, only for Edward II to squander nearly all his father's achievements; it's amazing Wales did not break away during his disastrous reign.

This music is very appropriate for capturing the sheer aura of Edward Longshanks. The guy was a beast IRL - spent almost his entire reign at war personally leading his armies, conquered Wales and Scotland, took on France, and was the last crusading king. Only other English king as fearsome and bold as him was Richard the Lionheart.

This scene is so good, the music is epic, everything about it omits raw power. The plantagenet dynasty was something else, such an interesting period of history. Stephen Dillane kills it is as Longshanks (as did Mcgoohan) but this film is so much better than Braveheart which is too full off ridiculous inaccuracies.

Stannis and Tywin are the only ones who would be fit to play Longshanks. GRRM said Tywin' character was based loosely on Longshanks aswell.
