Again I recommend getting a Dock for your Steam Deck as the process is MUCH easier that way!

There seemed to be a compatibility issue with Emulation Station because the games simply don’t run there. It can’t even recognize most of them yet they all run fine on the desktop standalone mode.

I need a guide to get the Virtual On controls correct. By default, the thumbsticks do not act as twin stick controls from the arcade, and I'm not sure how to get that mapped correctly (if possible)

Dude I remember running Model 2 emu on my friends crappy 2.4 GHz AMD desktop in 2008. It ran a little slow but my Core2Duo E8400 at home could run it full-speed. That was over 15 years ago so I hope the SteamDeck can run it no sweat.

with HOTD i didn't like the trackpad control so i changed it to left analog stick... so nice to have that option! . .The gunsight/reticle was too fast by default (imo) so i went back in to settings and slowed it down. Also you can map F1 & F2 to your buttons of choice in order to access the dip switches etc, plus you can map ALT & F4 in order to exit the game easily.
So glad m2 and m3 have been added to emudeck

Very useful as always!! Do you know how to create custom collections in ES without having to pick the games one by one? Like shmups, beat n ups, etc.. couldn’t find this option in steam deck

Hello. I am having manybissues with this. Perhaps because its quite new to emu deck but uve tried the above.

I installed sega model 2 emulator via emu deck. After install via emudeck I ran model 2 emulator to which it then downloads proton files etc. i then received an error and hit ok a few times. Model 2 emulator is installed.

I then try add my sega m2 roms to model 2 folder, they appear on ES DE however dont run. When I try to run i get the error on ES De “couldn’t find pre command proton . Has it been installed properly?” So no luck with this

I then tried the method of copy the m2 roms into the roms folder that was created by the emulator within the model2 folder. When doing this the roms dont then appear on ES DE, however I am able to then run the roms when running the model 2 emulator via desktop mode, only issue is when running via desktop mode and going full screen, it doesn’t accept steam deck controls and treats it as keyboard mouse. So when i try pressing buttons i.e start it just kicks me out of fullscreen mode from model2 emulator. So running from desktop mode seems to run game but doesn’t let me control.

I have also tried to add model 2 enulator to steam library and try running enulator from steam gaming mode but it just shows me emulator logo and nothing else.

Ive tried installing reinstalling, placed games in model2 folder and roms folder within model2 and no luck.

Can anyone advise me what i may be doing wrong.

I want to be able to run model 2 roms directly from ES DE and have them show up on ES DE. My ES DE is up to date. Anyone have any idea on how to help me. Or probs best just to hangfire hoping emudeck may have a fix in near future.

You need the sega rally and top skater cabinets, played them every time I had a chance in the 90s.

Wow, I guess I chose a great time to get into retro games on the Steam Deck, because these Model 2 games are awesome! So I've been especially liking some old racing games like Sega Rally; I have both the Saturn version and now the Model 2 Arcade version set up on my Deck, but the Model 2 version seems to just be so much smoother at 60fps and cleaner looking. In your opinion, is there any reason to play the Saturn version now that the Model 2 version is so easy to set up? I see that the Saturn version has split screen which Model 2 doesn't have, so I guess that is one benefit of the Saturn version. What do you think?

I haven’t tried this install yet but I did have future question. For house of the dead, if I wanted to played this docked is it possible to remap the controls from the deck to controller? Also, is there a way to have player 2 enabled from this emulator?

How do you access the settings menu, ie what is the test button? The controls on sega rally pull to the left. Thanks as always :)
