TheStoryGraph recommendations work a lot better for me than the random ones on goodreads ever did, which always seemed like they only want to sell the latest bestseller stuff to me. But I actually do ratings, so that might really help.

I remember reading The Youngest Doll in Spanish class (years ago now). I now tracked down a copy of that story, because I’m really inspired to read it again. Also, didn’t know that Rosario Ferré was the First Lady of Puerto Rico!

I enjoy all things storygraph. I use the app almost everyday now. However a lot of people still do not know what it is. All who I introduce it to love it. The algorithms gave me some pretty spot on recommendations and one of those books is now my favourite book.

My recommendations on thestorygraph for some reason all have oranges on the covers. Gingerbread, Small Pleasures, Passage West, and Bitter Orange are the first few. 🍊
The parakeets are so stinkin cute! They sound like Indian Ringnecks and I love them.

Maybe you know this already, but in case you don't, Terracotta Bride is included in the newest edition of Spirits Abroad by Zen Cho, published by Small Beer Press. This is my favorite published work by Zen Cho, and more people should be reading it! There are some absolute gems in the original collection, and Terracotta Bride is an amazing addition, such a beautiful story.

Your vlogs have kept me company while I'm feeling a bit sorry for myself with covid!
I love storygraph so much more than Goodreads. I still update Goodreads too, as so many of the people whose opinions I trust are only on Goodreads. I didn't know storygraph was a Black owned business, that's even better.
Sorry these weren't new loves for you! I often tend to pick up suggestions for non fiction on audible, but the fiction suggestions are often ones I've alrwsdy read, so I guess that makes them accurate xx
