Video: The European Union (EU) has been a driving force for economic integration and stability among its member states. However, the current EU budget system faces significant challenges, including uneven contributions and structural inefficiencies. To address these issues and strengthen the EU, this video delves into the history of EU financing, examines the problems with the EU budget today, and explores the potential benefits of a fiscal union. By analyzing these aspects, we can work towards a more cohesive and sustainable future for the European Union and its member states.

Since there are so many US focused YouTube channels that make it so the a majority of political, economical and law discourse is US-centric, I’m glad channels like these exist to represent such an important Union.
Great video as always, and good look going forward ❤️!

Really nice to see, that you already adapted so fast to the feedback, that we'd like longer videos!
And great video as always 👍

To make the Monetary Union work you need: 1. Common currency + Central Bank (done), 2. EU budget (pending). 3. EU Taxes (pending). If not, the Euro is doomed. Thank you Lambertus for your great channel. Congratulations for your 40k subscribers.

I'm all for fiscal union but levying yet another tax on EU citizens..? Most EU citizens are already getting like 45% of their income squeezed. On top of this, we are paying insanely high VAT in most countries.

Here in Italy the social benefits I get are not even close to adequate in relation to money that I pay.

Whats even worse is that even with insanely high taxes and extremely low military spending, we are still running a massive budget deficit each year. Many EU countries seem to be in similar situation. So why would I trust some government in Brussels to do any better with my money?

Congrats on 40k, well deserved! I loved the video, especially that you cover potential solutions, as well as challenges to these solutions. Most often I would see people cover only the issue, and leave it at that. I also loved the guest contributor from the UEF!

The UK promised 350 Million pounds a week for the NHS yet the NHS has gotten worse.

Thank you @TheEUMadeSimple for allowing us to contribute to the production of this video on a very complex topic such as fiscal union.

Your channel is a great service for European citizens who are looking for quality information and content that does not only talk about the existing but also about the problems of our Europe and the future of the European integration process.

This channel should be much bigger, the EU is criminally underrepresented on YT I feel.
You and IntoEurope are changing that, thank you!

Finally. There is really nothing on youtube about this topic. I'm glad you're the first to discuss this topic because no one would have done it as well as you did. Thank you so much for your work.

Due to the divergences between member states regarding how differently states spend their money and the complex legislation, I'm a bit sceptical a fiscal union can be achieved in the short-medium term (even though I'd love this to happen)

With that said, great video. Very detailed, straight to the point and clear to understand. You gained a subscriber and I hope you'll get more!

Fiscal Union is a must.

I’m always desperate for it. It doesn’t have to go through the EU, and may go through the Eurozone (prefer through the EU though). But for me, the EU will only stumble and stagnate without unification and centralisation of all major economic factors.

Building the US of Europe may have looked like an appealing idea 50 years ago, but when I look now at what the US is turning into, I say no thanks. Let us be Europe. It is not perfect, but it is alright.

So, it is a bad idea. Yust keep the money in the Netherlands instead of giving it away to te EU.

Very much opposed to the EU taxing citizens independently of their nation governments. I can vote whichever party taxes me least. If a fiscal union forms, I awaken one day and there's a new institution who can take my money against my will, and I can't vote it in or out. I'm very much pro eu, but have major concerns about ever encroaching bureaucracy and reduced sovereignty.

I like these imaginative polices like financial tax or carbon tax, that can increase EU budget revenue without costing too much political will. It shows there's people in there who are committed and capable. But unfortunately, I don't think the EU federalism has gotten enough buy-in from the people where the EU could ascend to the point where it can be positioned as a truly federal government.

Another great video. You cover so much in one video. No surprise that you reached 40k. I wonder how many subscribers will there be in a year (100k, 200k?, or More). You will definitely get there!!!!

The EU can go to hell, aint no way Im going to pay taxes for this prision. We the Dutch already have been sucked dry by his union; of which; of which nobody asked if we wanted to join this corporate fascist institute.

As a Romanian, we don't change the EU taxes untill we change the EU architecture. Bruxelles is at one side of the continent, Romania at the other. I'm 💯 sure geography played a role in the development of an city, country or political structure.

Americans at least vote the federal government, while it feels like we have very little to say on who is making what laws at the EU level. The EU is formed from a bunch of socialists and a few capitalists that comply with them. If I'm paying more taxes, I want political parties and the ability to vote them.

There is only one kind of taxes that makes sense in the context of the whole EU Union: import duties.
