AER City Pack Pro - Major Design Issue!? Watch before buying!

I discovered an issue with my AER City Pack Pro today. I would recommend watching this video before buying. I hope that AER sees this video to correct the problem on an overall decent backpack.
I noticed it when I first got caught in heavy rain, but I thought it was because of the position of the zippers (i.e. my fault). In actual fact, it's a design/quality issue.
Is there anyone else who has experienced this? (Please watch the video first). Please feel free to comment in the comment section of the video. AER are a fairly new company, so hopefully, they can correct this design issue on future bags. It's a bit annoying!

Its amazing coming back to this now that the V2 is out and they added drainage to the water bottle pockets, they really do listen to their customers

Update: I’ve been in contact with AER customer service, further to a comment on this video (thanks). Basically, they said the seams aren’t welded and this is the case with most bags. They stated that “All of our bags are triple-coated with polyurethane for water-resistance.”
I recommended that that the bottle area should be porous to let out liquid and to stop it collecting in the bottle area. They said they’ll pass the advice to their design team.
Hopefully the next iteration of the bag with have this.
It is still a good bag. For this bag to be a 10/10 it would need this and a horizontal luggage passthrough. I still like AER products (including this bag) and I’ll still consider buying their products in the future. Hopefully the video helps in you making your decision on the bag with pros and cons to help you make an informed decision. 👊🏾👍🏾

At first I thought you were overreacting but actually that's a major flaw. Good spot fella well done cheers I was just about to buy one of these. And life's not crap mate, you're doing great.

Interesting! I have the Ultra version, didn't yet had the chance to test it under the rain but definitely will happen. We'll see if it's still on the Ultra version. But it's true that I was surprised not to see a small hole at the bottom of the water bottle pocket so that water can get out of the bag if needed (as you can have on Peak design water bottle designs for example)

Thanks for sharing. I've been thinking between ELECOM MNL and AER CPP. Do you have any advice?

Thanks for the reminder. I guess, the solution would be to punch a hole at the bottom of the pocket, make it kinda like the V2?

In the ultra version there's a hole at the bottom of the pocket

Weatherproof does not mean waterproof I hope bag companies can be more specific with the distinction- with every bag, water bottle pockets have the potential to hold water - eventually, water will find ingress.

This is more of a highlight of why there shouldn't be water bottle pockets on backpacks than a condemnation of Aer and their bag construction. That said, if there are wstter bottle pockets then there should be holes/gussets in the bottom for drainage.

Scheisse… I heard about this in another review (don’t remember now) and after this I just can’t ignore it… I’ll have to keep looking 😭

Would've been nice to include a demonstration of the issue.

Good spot. But in your description, AER is not a "fairly new company". They've been in the industry for 10 years. Thus their 10th year anniversary ULTRA Collection.
