Lucius Malfoy is seen taking a book out of Ginny Weasley's cauldron and dropping two back in. The second book that he drops in is Tom Riddle's diary, which plays a significant role in the plot of the film. The diary is actually a Horcrux, an object that contains a fragment of the dark wizard Lord Voldemort's soul. When Ginny Weasley starts writing in the diary, she becomes possessed by Voldemort, who uses her body to open the Chamber of Secrets and unleash the basilisk upon Hogwarts.

This channel is inspired by Harry Potter Theory. I grew up loving Harry Potter and always wanted to come up with my own theories and ideas about the lore and world-building of the series. I hope you enjoy this theory video, and subscribe if you want to see more!

Its actually very subtle but if you watch the movie twice you can clearly identify Tom Riddle's Diary. In the film adaptation of Chamber of Secrets, Harry Potter clearly notices Lucius Malfoy slipping Tom Riddle's Diary in Ginny's Cauldron. However what I find really odd is to how none of the Weasleys see Tom Riddle's Diary (when Lucius holds up Ginny's Books in full view) or why Harry, who clearly saw Lucius slip the Diary in Ginny's cauldron, not call him out.

The Book version of this event is actually even better as both Arthur Weasley & Lucius Malfoy get into a Fist fight and cause a commotion that allows Malfoy to slip in the Diary undetected.

Tom Riddle (Christian Coulson) at age 16 with his wand writes in the air, "THOMAS MARVOLO RIDDLE". At a brisk gesture of his left hand, the letters magically relocate, to read "I AM LORD VOLDEMORT" (Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets [2002, Warner Bros, Chris Columbus, John Williams]).

Something that the movies don’t bring up though is that this shit stuck with ginny. I don’t remember what book it was but harry was talking to Ginny about how he felt like he was being possessed and Ginny explained what it’s actually like. Harry says how he forgot about that she Ginny enviously says back “lucky you”
