H1-B visa is also responsible for the decline of US technology industry in particular. There are benefits and drawbacks to all policies, but this one seems to currently have more drawbacks. There has been a push towards diversifying the ethnic groups in the employee base even going against merit based hiring and the post-modernist theory behind it is that people have implicit bias towards hiring people of their own race (with white population being the major culprit), which needs to end, for the purpose of equating outcomes for all races, at the cost of sacrificing talent. The major beneficiaries of this policy has been the Chinese population. This has resulted in a significant drop in the demand for local US-based suppliers and the official reason is that the Chinese don’t understand English well enough, thereby preferring Chinese suppliers over suppliers from other countries. This isn’t an allegation, but rather my experience. I don’t see Chinese suppliers offering anything that isn’t available elsewhere, yet, companies are choosing Chinese suppliers over others and moving most of their supply chains to China, despite the economic policies being unimpressive. This has been making the Chinese consumer stronger and more and more companies and their suppliers are becoming increasingly reliant on a single country. I don’t see that as a healthy trend.
