I feel you man, I'm going to school full time and working third shift at a chain that we'll call The Dome Steeple. We have 12 people total working when there should be at least double that. We're all part timers that are expected to work full time hours without full time benefits. Retail pay for overnight non-retail work. We're understaffed, underpaid, overworked, and overstressed. But we do it anyway. But on holidays, they better believe we're gonna be home with family. Carry on, my brother.

Actually, shopping starts on Thanksgiving day for the "Big Event" (Wal-Mart's name for Black Friday weekend). It is the most stressful time for workers and most would rather avoid it, but at the same time some do get a little more during the holidays.

Having previously worked for a big box retailer for 3 black fridays in a row, the days leading up to black friday are pretty fucking soul crushing.

I got hired as a Walmart greeter way back when I was like 19-20 years old. I put down all sorts of jobs I would do, but they decided that Walmart greeter was the perfect fit. To be fair though I WAS one of the only greeters who smiled and greeted people lol!

As a Walmart associate I agree that we do not get paid nearly enough to live comfortably. With my wages and my wife's wages we are still going to struggle with getting a house. And even if we get a house just trying to afford the house payment and bills will be exceedingly difficult. I work in the Tire Lube Express and I enjoy what I do for Walmart but the wages are making it really hard for me to provide for my family.

Yeah, you gotta do what you gotta do. I am going to have to take up a second and most likely 3rd job soon just to make rent payments. I feel your pain man. There are thousands (if not more) of us in the exact same boat.

Most of my money is spent either on video games at my local game store or on movie/TV show DVDs at my nearest Best Buy.

Sadly even when gift shopping the best anyone I know can usually tell me they want is a game, movie, or music album.

I never shop on Black Friday. I worked Black Friday at Kohl's once and it was a hellish nightmare. I try not to leave my house between Thanksgiving and Valentine's if I can help it.
