Mixing Concrete With Epoxy Resin

I mixed concrete with epoxy resin and it came out great! I used Quikrete Countertop mix and white and then added n some green pigment that I got from lime strong. I used total boat thick set 2-part epoxy and waited. 7 hours before pouring concrete on top of it.

Man, I’m SO glad you did this! I’ve wondered for so long how they would interact but I’ve been hesitant cause most epoxy is out of my “experimental/play” budget.
As always great video! I really dish the epilogue too, you should do them whenever it makes sense to do one.
Thank you!!!!

I like the way you see the results of your experiments, I think this Douglas Adam’s quote applies here: “I may not have gone where I intended to go, but I think I have ended up where I intended to be.”

Your discussion of your thoughts and expansion of ideas was by far the best part of your video! Well done.

Spray on the mold release before the concrete. Then no worries about it messing with the concrete/epoxy interface.

What makes this channel one of my favorites, is that Ben, continuously presents the viewer with new ideas and experiments. Many of us are looking for creative inspiration and motivation, this channel provides that!

I was really surprised the epoxy didn't go all cloudy when the wet concrete was poured onto it. Maybe because it was partially cured? All of the brainstorming at the end really emphasizes how much of an artist you truly are. Great video!

Wow, I love this. Very cool ambience with the lit candle. I can’t wait to see your future experiments using glass and epoxy.

Really looks cool especially with the candle.

I appreciate your talking through the process at the end. This makes your videos more honest and transparent.

Another amazing job. However I think if you left the glass vase it would be equally spectacular.

Man Ben your design talks after the project are SO valuable. As good as (better than?) the podcast in some ways as far as jus thearing all of your thoughts and seeing them described (so I think the video podcast will be really nice as well!)

Nice experiment. I am not into the look of the concrete mixed with epoxy, but now I really want to make something like this with just clear lines. So concrete, different colour of concrete, raisin, then again concrete and another layer of resin and top it off with concrete again. I also like the idea of tilting it. I bet we'll see more of this. Thanks!

I love how you have manufactured something that really looks organic somehow.

I definitely shall not try this. I'm not quite material-adventure ready for it. I am, however, grateful to you for showing it.

Amazing video Ben! I love when experimenting leads to discovering new ideas or challenges. Really enjoyed your conversation after making the product, it allows us to understand your creative thought process a bit more.

Pretty neat!
I wonder how the epoxy would react to being poured on setting concrete - probably A LOT of air bubbles.
And what would happen if you used epoxy as [part of] the liquid when mixing concrete (what I thought this video would be about) - would it just be a disaster or something interesting?

I was also wondering about this. I’ve poured many Epoxy Granite castings and have an upcoming project where I’m kind of tempted to add concrete to the mix.

Back in the world wars when metal was scarce they used straight concrete. Even building concrete ships. Had they mixed epoxy id have to wonder if they’d still be doing it today. I am Curious about its durability.

I don’t think id mix it straight up but i wouldn’t mind trying 10-15% in my mix. Might have to try a small mold and see how it takes to a few tests.
