I wasn't born in the 80s. My mom brought home Debbie's greatest hits from award sale in like 2009. I was 13 or 14. My cousin Jared and I found this song and made a dance for it. My mom went from being thrilled about her yard sale find to "despising" this track. Jared passed in 2023 but I still come back and listen to this. It was his favorite.

Her beauty was so natural. No makeup, no crazy visual effects, just her singing, and dancing, and being sexy by being herself!!!! Debbie is a legend in my eyes, and I couldn't keep my eyes off of photos of her back when I was pining over her! I went to school with a girl who looked just like her and just...damn!!!!

And that menace just happened to write some infectiously melodic songs. OMG! Songwriters today need to hear songs like this...they'd kill for hooks this simple yet this sharp.
