TLDR News Interviews Mitch McConnell

This weekend we attended the Munich Security Conference, where we met with Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell. During the conversation we talk about future US arms shipments to Ukraine and the threat posed by China.

The Munich Security Conference is the world's leading forum for debating international security policy. It is a venue for diplomatic initiatives to address the world's most pressing security concerns. In 2023, under the new chairmanship of Ambassador Christoph Heusgen, the MSC will once again welcome a series of high-ranking international decision-makers and experts, including heads of state and government, ministers, and diverse voices from international organizations, civil society, the private sector, and the media.

Its always fascinating to me to hear our (US) leaders give interviews outside the US to non-US media. In almost every case, be it left or right, they appear so less hyper partisan then giving stateside interviews. You wonder which is the real image of that politician, although 'none of the above' still applies. In particular here, how MM basically admits the debt-ceiling drama is just political theater.

I think this video just goes to show how swamped with political theatre US mainstream media is, especially relative to more restrained and informative media, like TLDR. TLDR gave straightforward questions, and Mitch gave straightforward answers. Well done!

Even though it was short and sounded a bit pre-planned, I'm happy mitch McConnell talked to a YouTube channel. I hope more representatives of government continue to do this type of conversation so more people are a little more willing to listen. Whenever I see something similar from a big news org I get a bad taste in my mouth from the conversation because it always seems like the interviewer is pandering to the politician.

considering how anti-war some of the more vocal members of the republican party have been, it's strangely comforting to hear a member of their old guard talking about actually supporting the Ukranian war effort.
