1:15 - "... an Orthodox Church and a Slavic language - all these factors make it hard not to see a huge gap between the East and the West." - what a ridiculous statement.

This is pure propaganda, I advice people who wanna get their own opinions to talk to the locals...
I am Moroccan and I fell in love with Monténegro and its people. Again, this documentary is pure propaganda and highlights the point of you of a very tiny, almost insignificant portion of the population (I will let you guess which social class they belong to, Mr I collect modern art and Ms. we owned private schools in Russia, )
We almost got an opposite statement from Ms. Vanja Calovic Markovic, but I am pretty sure it was edited out of this pseudo-report, waaay to go Arte... you serve your masters very well !

Many small countries have a cute, old world charm to them. Unfortunately, money is king and many “sell out” to larger countries or organizations. China, EU, NATO and others offer many places like this quick opportunities to dig themselves out of financial trouble, but oftentimes it creates new problems. But with all that said, Montenegro probably has the best looking flag in the world. All the best!

You cannot be objective if you film only one city in MNE about political and war happenings. Thats because Cetinje where you filmed this is small place of 15.000 residents who have counter opinion with other parts of montenegro. There are a lot of Russophiles here, probably more than 60%

From a Greek: what a pathetic propaganda attempt….truly sad! Montenegro is a country that was bombed by NATO in 1999. Not a word about that? As if it never happened. Hypocrites! ❤️ to Montenegro!

Why in the world would you put up a whole seaport as collateral for a freeway; which prime minister made that deal?!

I`m from Montenegro, and I have an advice for you, and everyone else who`s interested. This is a wierd country with even wierder people, so don`t even try to understand and make sense out of things that can`t understand. Nobody can, not even the people who live here all their life. We are stuck in 12th century, and our people put more trust in priests about pandemic, then doctors and medical professionals

Great Country and friendly people - relies heavily on Tourism which could be a major problem with the direction that the western world is going with it`s net zero. Amazed at the amount of rubbish dumped along mountain roads. Coastal areas are incredibly packed.

The correct statement is in the final sentence of this documentary... "Montenegro should set its own course without being hijacked along the way"

Ive been to montenegro Just a few days ago. Ive Wonderd about that too, seeing ukrainian Cars parked next to russian ones, if that Is Not totally weird For ukrainian refugees. But thanks to Arte its nice to know that Montenegro plays a vital role in intercultutral comunication. And trying to bring peace to the region.

you mean to tell me that there are people in certain countries who've looked at 2020 and said...<<I know what would be a good idea: to join a corrupt bureaucratic union with a collapsing currency. Hm

Interessante reportagem, mostrando mais um pouco desse país ainda pouco conhecido no mundo, mas que pode se tornar estratégico no futuro se já não é

Huge mistake to get indebted to China. HUGE mistake. Under no circumstances give China any of your ports, Montenegro.

I'm half Montenegrin from my father side and been visiting Mne every summer since I was a kid. The country has many issues! However I've never seen so much filth and aggression like this summer! Trash everywhere, beaches are mostly destroyed since they mainly have low cost tourism. On the other hand you have soulless towns like Lustica and Porto Montenegro where all the russian, ukrainian and local mafia live... The country is pretty much collapsing in my opinion. Such a shame. I've got this feeling this summer that the country is intentionally being destroyed by the EU and local politicians... however, in the media they present the situation completely opposite from reality.

Yes, the problem is in the population and not in the government.

Why didn't you speak to anyone outside NGO in Montenegro? This is so out of touch with reality and a 100% biased and Western view of the situation. The critical view of the highway and Budva is probably because the highway is built by China and Budva has a pro-Serbian mayor.
