Walking around Footscray - a suburb in western Melbourne Australia

Footscray is an inner-city suburb in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, 5 km (3.1 mi) west of Melbourne's Central Business District, located within the City of Maribyrnong local government area. Footscray recorded a population of 17,131 at the 2021 census.

Footscray is characterised by a very diverse, multicultural central shopping area, which reflects the successive waves of immigration experienced by Melbourne, and by Footscray in particular. Once a centre for Greek, Italian and former Yugoslavian migrants, it later became a hub for Vietnamese and East African immigrants in Melbourne. It has recently begun to undergo rapid development and gentrification, and Time Out magazine placed Footscray at 13th in its '50 Coolest Neighbourhoods in the World' for 2019, reflecting its evolving reputation, citing in particular its diverse array of international cuisine, bars and nightlife, as well as its arts scene.

Footscray is named after Foots Cray, on the River Cray in London, England.

Wow I can remember living in Talbot street in the early 80’s around 10-11yrs old seeing Footscray today is like going into time machine it takes me right back when I first lived there right at the back of Footscray station I was there for a good number of years [ the station has changed so, so much the platform the ramp the stairs I once knew are gone just everything looks space age totally unrecognisable ] 😢

In addition there was only a couple Asian shops, restaurants it was predominantly run by the European’s OH HOW I MISS MY OLD FOOTSCRAY the way it use to be ... it was CLEANER too but now it’s dilapidated it looks like I’m in a foreign country like in Vietnam Saigon especially when I go there to eat there I just can’t believe all the changes .

The donut shop near the station is gone 😫that old man used to serve me when I was a kid, all the Europeans are all gone all the shops I once knew 😢 I guess everything is subject to change nothing ever really stays the same but anyway seeing this video brings back memories I get very emotional seeing Footscray again.

I live in Victoria went for a hair appointment in Footscray. The place feels so foreign and smells stinky just like the foods they eat. I never dare to eat there at all.
