I'm a mechanical engineer. I have owned this controller for at least 6 years and have been confused since I bought it. I finally understand that the start times are not zones. Orbit could have done a MUCH better job of designing this interface.

Dude you saved me HOURS and many trips to/ from Home Depot !
My timer kept repeating over and over again until I watched your video.
Stations and Zones are what I was confused by.
Your explanation of setting the START TIME(s) and then switching to the stations for setting the time solved my problem.
I was setting 4 different times for all my zones and the timer was doing just that "repeating" 4 times of the day instead of ONCE a day doing each Zone once.
Million THANKS !

Okay that was for station 1, what if you have two stations you would like to set up to go off at different times?

Your replies to the comments have been very helpful to me. I guess many were confused thinking that each zone (as opposed to program) could have a separate start time. We have gone to water restrictions here. We can only water on 3 different days in a week and only between 9pm--11:59pm, and 12am -- 7am. I have 6 zones total and I'm using 2 programs. Due to the (water) off days gaps, it's best to water each zone twice. Once in the morning and once at might. That way there is only one 48 hour segment without watering.

I could be mistaken, but it looks like after you set the start time for 5:00am, it switches to the number 2. Which is zone is isn't it? So the 5:40am time is set for zone 2. Is this correct? Or am i looking at it wrong. Because I tried the multiple start times for zone 1, but it didnt seem to work.

You spent less than 3 seconds demonstrating it and exactly zero seconds explaining it.

My back yard has many working sprinklers, but one of them got damaged and when I checked it, it was not rotating. It sent a regular jet of water through one of my rear windows for the full 22 minutes it was set for. I wanted to STOP THAT ONE SPRINKLER until I had time to replace it. Its run time would need to be zero minutes. But I discovered that the timer can be set to any number up to (I think it was) 240 minutes. But it cannot be set to zero (0) minutes. I could not stop that single sprinkler from spraying my house every day at the same time. Of course I could turn the Controller to OFF for all sprinklers, but in this weather I didn't want to.

I just need different times to keep the water pressure but it groups them all up in each start time

After you set the first start time you press the enter button and the screen is dash marks so you can enter the 2nd start time. Mine moves on to the next zone. I don’t get it. It looks just like yours

My landscaper set 4 different times for my 4 stations. He explained to me that those are the different times each station will come on. After watching your video, I’m thinking he may be mistaken now. I’ve learned you basically just need one time for all stations, unless I want each station to come on multiple times of the day. I don’t want that. He set it to M, W, F with an “interval” of “1 every day.” Please tell me what that interval means?

I'm sorry but I am still confused and can't set my easy dial two program controller to do what I want: I want program A station 1 to have two start times, 9AM and 3PM, with a run time of 5 min, and every day. Now I want program A, station 2 to start at 2PM and run T, T& S. Please walk me through this step by step. Thanks

If I want to water on Even Days only, I know you can set to Even Days, but
what should the interval be set to? I.e. should it be every 1 day or every 2 days?

Hello, I have a 9 zones Orbit timmer just like the one you're showing but my zone # 6 and #7 start running at the same time, lowes told me that it's the timer that causes the problem so I went and bought a new timmer but it's still the same, any idea what the problem is? thank you.

On Fridays program A has 2 stations, that start 1/2 hour apart. But Monday program A only has 1 station. How do I add station 2 to Mondays program?

Only one zone is watering after I reset my system. All 4 zone used to work. What happened and how can I fix this?

Confusing. As soon as you pressed enter for 5am it went from Station 1 to station 2 which made everything else you said about watering station 1 twice for ten minutes each kind of useless. I followed the directions in the manual to water starting at 3am and came out this morning at 9am to station 1 just completing. Then it started on 2. Not even close to the times I programmed. Also, it appears you can only program 4 stations on a 6 station timer.
