Rare: "Hey David can you make a song for our funny game where monkeys are tossed from barrels in a forest?"
David Wise: "Yup."

My father showed up to school during lunch in second grade one day, full army attire, grabbed my shoulder and said "We have to go." He freaked me out. I was literally thinking like "did Mom die or something?" he was so serious and walked with a purpose... When we got to the van i asked him what was going on. He pulled out DKC2 and said "i just wanted you to get a chance to play this before all your friends." Then i freaked out in a different way. To this day, i view DKC2 as a platforming masterpiece and it will forever hold a place in my heart.

It amazes me how David Wise was able to get this song to work on the SNES. This song is unbelievable for its time!

I was 13 years old. It was Christmas Eve 1995. I remember getting up around 7 am and played this game before I went to my grandma's for Christmas. It reminds me of better, simpler times.

I feel sorry for all those out there who don’t understand or haven’t tried video games. It’s truly an art form. They don’t know what they’re missing

I'm now 38 years old in the middle of my life. When I played this game, my father watched me doing that. He was always there by my side. Last year he died due to liver failure. Whenever I listen to this song, I feel the passage of time. I feel the weight of him being gone, away forever. I know that bringing back those old times isn't possible, but damn, I just can't stop crying. I've this picture of me on his shoulders as a young kid. He was the best. I just miss him so damn much.

Takes me back to being 12 years old, hot summer in july with the smell of cut grass in my stuffy bedroom, drinking a Capri Sun and trying over and over again to progress in this stage. Those were the days

Really reminds me that the child inside all of us can be neglected, shunned, and locked away. The child-like wonder of looking up at a sky full of stars is replaced by gazing, wishing to be anywhere but where we are right now. This always makes me feel like wherever I am, it’s not where I was, but that’s okay

There is absolutely no reason that this isn't the #1 song of all time in gaming.

It reminds me of my homie Max who passed away twenty years ago. We played the game every day. Rest in Peace Max. I hope, that we will see us again on the other side.
