I think a lot of these estimates are just too generous. I used the ined population simulator and even if Japan's fertility were to increase to 1.8 by next year and continue until the end of the century it would only have 70 million. I guess this updated estimation is either assuming a lot of these countries will have a massive recovery in fertility or that they will have mass immigration. I don't see the first happening.

Now a high birth rate often has to do with a lot of poverty. This ranking apparently assumes that e.g. India will be poor forever. But if more prosperity arises in India (the probability is high) and at least a per capita income of 10, 000 dollars is reached (currently at 2, 600), the birth rate will fall. Will Nigeria always remain poor? So I don't think the population numbers will look like this in 2100.
