The simpler and easier to understand a Yugioh card's effect is, the more powerful it is.

Card: draw
Konami: Ok you’re getting banned

Card: Remove from play your entire hand, reduce your life points down to 1, preform the entire play version of Les Misérables on your own, perform a blood sacrifice to the void, and burn your childhood stuffed animal. Then draw 2 cards.
Meta Players: *uses it in every deck*

We learned that drawing is the most op thing in Yu-Gi-Oh

Card: "Draw 2 Cards. Your opponent wins."
Konami: "That card advantage seems a bit unfair to the guy who won."

Who’s scared to lose life points when your opponent won’t even get a turn anyways

For people that don't understand why in Yugioh drawing cards is way too good compared to other Card games the answer is simple. There are no resources here. What I mean is that you can summon monsters and play cards if you can as many as you can no problem. In games like Hearthstone, Magic, Pokemon you have limited resources per turn to do stuff you want. Not here.

Back in the early days, Change of Heart was mostly used to steal/prevent flip effect monsters and as a tribute to bring Summoned Skull. How times have changed.

Ok everyone always talks about how complicated pot of greed is, but NO ONE talks about the behemoth that is 'Jar of Greed'

It’s always funny how many of the most broken cards in this game are some of the very first ones they printed.

The monsters back then are terrible by today’s standards but the spell cards are so powerful they can define an entire meta and become auto-include upon unbanning

I remember as a kid, I thought Snatch Steal was terrible because giving the opponent 1000 LP each turn just sounded insane to me. This was also when I was playing Dian Keto The Cure Master in every deck.

Pot of Greed: *Has the simplest card text in the entire game*

TheDuelLogs: “This card was banned because nobody could figure out what it does.”

Konami: makes cards that allow more cards to be drawn
Also Konami: No

Old spell cards are either hilariously terrible or downright broken.

My brother played yu-gi-oh when it just came out so we basically had entire decks of just banned cards, change of heart, pot of greed etc.. In 5th grade I couldn't play in a tournament because like half of my deck was banned.

When I started playing Yugioh, my friend told me: shorter the explanation of the card is, stronger it is. About 1/3 of cards in this list has less than 3 lines explanation.

I’m so happy the yugioh community has unanimously agreed to keep the Pot of Greed meme going

Seeing Pot of Desires getting limited to one copy despite the hard once per turn and the banish 1/4 of your deck cost shows how insanely broken Pot of Greed would be if it were unbanned.
