I still have a Nexdock Touch 14" which does the same as this. Very useful device for a lot of things, from admin work to travelling. Sadly, Nexdock didn't make these for very long, making them pretty hard to find nowadays.
Nice to know someone is still making similar hardware.

this was done a decade ago with the Motorola Lapdock, and the build quality was awesome.

Basically a new Nexdock with a couple bespoke connectors. I still use my Nexdock touch for a quick all-in-one screen/keyboard/touchpad.

I like the UPerfect and NexDock 360 approach to this, more.

No mention of how durable the case feels. No mention of keyboard quality or flex.

The usage for this would be great for a tech having to setup or update a Pi or Jetson in a remote lacation; without carrying a separate monitor snd inputs. Hopefully it supports other Pis and devices as well. Only concern with such use case is the durability of it being plastic.

I misread it at first and thought the boards to connect the pi were $40 but they’re $5!!! Big difference. I went ahead and backed it. It could be cool if it works out.

I’m waiting for one of these to have a 60+W PD capable power bank in it

I hope one of these companies can make a high end version of these docks specifically for the steam deck or portables: Basically a thunderbolt/usb 4 egpu but that instead of being a 'dock' where you plug in a monitor and mouse it has it's own monitor, keyboard and trackpad on it so you 'dock' your Steam Deck but gain a fully fledged, if modest, laptop gpu chip with it's own battery (Depending on size it would either also help charge the steam deck or just extend battery life by being able to shut down steam deck's screen and reduce power consumption by not stressing the GPU part of that APU at all)

Something like this is exactly what im looking for.

I'm interested actually. If the trackpad is actually good and price isn't bonkers. The other lapdocks still seem to be lacking in the trackpad area. As it is I'd still rather get a portable monitor or an old laptop with an HDMI in adapter and bring my own input.

The lapdock was built with the RP5 and NVIDIA Jetson in mind, but they didn't bother to try to incorporate the board into the case... Stonks!

I haven't seen a truly smart lapdock solution since the Atrix lapdock. Why isn't there a tray behind the screen to keep your phone while it's connected to the lapdock? Or a stand that would allow you to keep your phone next to the screen?

They only bother to make a screen, a keyboard and a mouse, and that's it... in fact, it's all very similar to whitelabel laptops that usually use a tablet motherboard.

Ah, but the RPI inside the case would be limited because of the cooler, and other attachments... Simple, put the connections at the back, and use a design like the old Asus ROG that had a chassis behind the screen to accommodate the cooling.

I'll bet my pennies that this thing will cost the price of a basic laptop.

Call me when it's HDR10 OLED with a ~80-100wh battery

That pi really needed to be mounted on the back of the display. The dangling connectors kill the whole portable form factor.

Promising though. Looking forward to the next iteration.

Where is the link to, the product? Is it already released?

Isn't this just like a lapdock/nexdock?

I'd definitely consider one of these if it had an aluminum chassis, bigger battery, and 16" OLED screen.

How bout the Red magic 8s, or the iMac mini

Barrel jack for power and mini HDMI? It would have to be USB-C power and full HDMI for me to consider buying it. Shame, I would have probably bought one if it wasn’t for that. Oh and yes, would ideally want a bigger battery.

This will hinge on the Kickstarter pricing when available. Would have been better to house the single boards internally using similar adaptor modules really. Or even a combined breakout cable from the back of the device to say a Pi in a case.
