Zecharia Sitchin DEBUNKED | Dr. David Miano

In this episode Dr. Miano once again takes us into a fascinating and brief exploration soundbite into the very fringes of history and explores one of the most controversial and influential figures in the world of pseudoscience\ pseudoarcheology and that is Zecharia Sitchin.

From discussing his background in business to his lack of expertise on the subjects he discusses such as Sumerology and how that impaired his ability to properly translate the sources such as Sumerian Texts.

From poor and inaccurate translations to wildly spectacular and fictitious claims Sitchin has written a prolific amount of fake histories that when taken literally can be dangerous in distorting the actual facts and encouraging the spread of misinformation.

We end this by discussing how there is nothing wrong with attempting to teach yourself ancient languages and writing scripts but that when able you need to ensure you are doing it accurately and I end it by saying there is nothing wrong with reading fringe history and pseudoscience as long as we remember it isn't trustworthy and should not be taken to seriously.

My background is in Anthropology. I became interested in Sitchin’s work after reading about the Noah’s Ark tablet and how Irving Finkle followed the instructions on building the round shaped boat to a much smaller scale. The video is incredible. What I discovered after researching Sitchin’s work and comparing it to the authorized translations was that Sitchin merely reinterpreted the translations.
Most of the original translations were done by 19th century men unfamiliar with technology like we have today.
Anthropologists try to understand and extract meaning in the art, literature, music, etc, that humans leave behind them. Women anthropologists have recently reinterpreted much of what male anthropologists saw as militaristic art/carvings/cave paintings. The point is to be honest and diligent about what the meaning or message originally was meant to be. Instead too many historians have imposed their religious assumptions on ancient artifacts and their interpretations are subjective, maybe not deliberately, but still not totally honest.

This brief video is hardly a debunking of Sitchin. I have yet to hear or see an honest attempt at an actual debunking of his work. Remember that the Sumerian dictionaries were translated too and that translation must include interpretation of meaning. Interpreting meaning is a much harder task as any egyptologist or sumerologist can tell you. Like Irving Finkle, Zecharia Sitchin has attempted to interpret meaning from the original translations.

And no historian yet has been able to explain how the Sumerians knew about Pluto or counted Earth as the seventh planet. One has to give credit to Sitchin for daring to reinterpret our origins.

The possible misinterpretation of a few words may poke slight holes in Zecharia Sitchin's theory, but it certainly doesn't debunk it. I'm willing to give a man that taught himself a dead language from 10000 years ago a little slack. I was expecting much more from this title.

1:00 if you admit you know very little about his theories then why would you blindly accept that he was wrong? Makes no sense at all. Unless this is just a lame grab at views. In which case, you are shameless and honestly doing people an injustice by pushing them away from his theories. Whether true or false, the work that man did should be digested by anyone interested in ancient civilizations and their beliefs. Sichin grew up in Israel, could read ancient Hebrew and learned how to read ancient sumerian. Just because this guy has a doctorate doesnt mean a thing. To me he just seems like another mindless sheep of academics that accepts everything his professors taught him to be hard facts and as has been proven time and time again, scholars have gotten things wrong. An entire generation of bright minded physicists have been laid to waste by the way of string theory but I bet if they were challenged 10yrs ago they would insist the theory was correct. We were all once taught the earth was flat sichins work for yourself folks and draw your own conclusions.

I’m sorry, but until someone actually proves Sitchin wrong, instead of defaming him for the sake of it, I will continue to be awed by the massive amount of research and time this man put into his work. Can’t see anyone else taking it on… ?

SItchen's education wasn't an indoctrination by universities with their ties to religious and corporate interests .
One of the main reasons I discriminately listen to alternate theories of history .
His work far surpasses most university professors I've heard of.

That was a great debunking of Z. Sitchin. Debunk has many similar words attached to it. Like ridicule, jest, make fun or poke fun of. We Humans have in our Nature or Genes, to take what we fear or don't understand and turn it into a joke. That's everyone, me included. When we attempt to make everyone else believe someone else's work is false or not correct, this is not natural and the intention comes from a place of personal gain and will be rejected by those that can be objective.

The preceding is my opinion. It is not fixed and is open to hear others perspectives.

Dr Miano, in my teenage years, I trained my Dog in German. I had to learn the German words and phrases of the American English commands I had taught the Canine prior.. Years later I was in Germany and learned conversational German by teaching myself and by a Woman I dated in Idar-Oberstein.

That Woman, myself nor the Canine went to a school for German. Yet, it worked, all without an Accredited Professor or institution telling me what I was supposed to study and what I'm kept from knowing.
In other words, kept in scarcity and under control.
Debunking is meant to keep the masses from becoming more aware than the Teacher.
The Student is supposed to surpass the Teacher, that's the whole point of Teaching.

Knowledge is Power only when the Knowing is made into Correct Action.

This is a debunk of Z. Sitchin, you've also debunked(made fun of)yourself.

Its not unbelievable that a word or term can have two translations especially going from sumerian to Akkadian. It is my understanding that anunnaki did also mean of royal seed because as the kings were selected they were considered connected to the "gods" who were the original royalty so its possible that an Akkadian meaning could evolve a term just like the way we use terms today that are a shocking contrast to the original use. Im open to hear all sides of a story but in the 10 years i have been studying this issue i have yet to find a thorough debunking, i have read many different accounts of the story with certain details changed but the bulk of the story telling of these beings who came from the sky impacting the beings that existed on earth remains the same. I think your gonna need some strong debunking to go against a tale that transends cultures and writings from across the planet throughput various time periods.

Opposed to the title of 'debunked'. there was nothing of the sort, more heavily biased dismissive criticism of Stichin than anything else.

There's plenty of Sitchin's findings very worthy of examination and debate, this didn't scratch the surface let alone get close...
