It's amazing what most people miss. The Thrice albums that sold the most, while great, are the ones that have the least dynamic instrumentation and lyricism. I bring up Thrice being one of my favorite bands and people jump straight to Artist in the Ambulance, so I show them some Alchemy Index or Major/Minor and they're blown away at the growth.

I love the band, and am glad to see the guys having fun. I'm interested to listen to the album as a whole and take some time to digest it. For me though, the focus on such directly political and social issues is a bit away from what drew me to Thrice. While those topics are important, what pulled me in was the ambiguity and possible interpretations of their prior music, which hasn't been an option with the recent tracks, or at least in my interpretation. I've enjoyed the escape in their music, even if it was real and impactful, it was applicable across time and not just to specific issues.
