Instead of the red and green lights can I set it up to light LED Christmas lights?

I have soldered together the quiz buzzer kit, I am a beginner, and safety is first to consider and strongly apply,

I had to resolder a few times until i managed to solder the joints to a satisfactory level, I am worried that I might burn out components, I read the booklet about 5 times and took notes, on a sheet of paper, I drew out my version of the diagram, and detailed each component in my written form too, while observing the very useful literature that came with the kit,

I challenged this task, with not rushing to solder straight away, I was abit concerned about the size of tip on my solder iron, it being to wide, and could result in failed soldered joints, I checked this, but I did not have a smaller tip. any recommendations when soldering on a small pcb board and what size tips would be most ideal for these soldering tasks.

I have 3 pairs of glasses, and can't see well the pcb.
the pcb is too small for me to follow, this comes with a printed pcb. can you use a plain pcb a larger size and solder the components onto it,

the only problem is the traces of the wiring which must be soldered to have a circuit. Any suggestions if I want to use a plain pcb . with more space. thank you
