Nobuhle - Isigubhu (official video)

Calabash Music/Lolhiphop has released the visuals for ISIGUBHU, her debut single. The video showcases South African song and dance, as Nobuhle explores universal African traditional rhythms on a house beat.

“I’m quite excited about my first video release, with a pan-African record label. It’s a first step into my journey into Africa – I want to make music for the whole continent, not just for South Africa” says Nobuhle.

Nobuhle is currently working on an afropop album that will be released later in the year. The East Rand native started singing in 2010. She got a first taste of the limelight in 2013 when she was discovered by a record label and reality/documentary Top TV Show: Sugarushed. Nobuhle released "Mic Check ft El Rafael" & "Shooting Star” during this time. In an interview with SAFM, presenter Khanyisile Magubane noted that her performance style is “nothing short of amazing”.

Cameroonian singer and CEO of Calabash Music, Wax Dey is full of praise for Nobuhle. “I’m quite excited that we are working with Nobuhle now. She is one of the best vocalists I have heard worldwide, and she has an incredibly bright future ahead of her. As we proceed with her, Africa and the world will discover how dynamic and powerful as she is as writer and singer. She is a star!”

Calabash Music was established in Cameroon in 2016 with the aim of unearthing new talent across Africa and giving them a continental platform to expose their talent. The stable now includes artists from Cameroon, Congo, Nigeria, Ghana and South Africa, and will be engaging the artists in country exchange programmes to expose them to new markets, with the help of their label mates. In November 2016, Nobuhle traveled the Nigeria for the All Africa Music Awards and AFRIMA concerts before officially releasing her first single, Isigubhu.

Beautiful track BUT it could have been exceptional if you introduced the real Sgubhu... The part with the Djembe should have really featured real sgubhu as the song suggests isigubhu samampela.
