In this video, we talk about Alexis de Tocqueville, a French political thinker from the 19th century. His famous argument that democracy might lead by a wish for equality to soft despotism is more relevant today than ever.

I saw this the first time it was released. Camille and Jordan really hit it off. She found a soulmate.

I've read every book and article Paglia has published. While I don't agree with everything she says, she is, without question, a major public intellectual. Thanks for giving her this platform.

Camille is correct. Although married (4) times my feminist sister (82) revels in her victim mind-set. (Drives me crazy.) Contrast: My eldest granddaughter (32) is drop dead good looking and wicked smart and plays her hand masterfully. She has it all, a beautiful home, a high value husband, (3) well-adjusted exceptionally bright children, she is business partner with her husband and on path to retire at 40 years old. My girl is one of the most capable women I know and she is no fool or victim.

Finally a video with Jordan Peterson where he says nothing at all. Thumbs up for that alone! 👍👍

How is her health? Why isn't she seen as much anymore? She's brilliant and often ahead of her time.

Camille Paglia is someone more women (and some men) need to listen to more, I think. She makes a ton of sense and I can relate to her feeling out of place in those circles because I've never felt like I belonged much of anywhere because I'd always (and still do) have opinions that don't mesh with the orthodoxy's way of doing things.

Talking account of the first ideas of agrarian life Pagia talks... My grandmother was born in a middle city in Uruguay... Actually, she had the ways of a matriarch in many ways... Also she had Carlist Roots (Spanish roots traditionalist).. actually, reading about it... carlism wasnt male opressive in essence... There was a "right wing feminism" inside Carlism... Actually the woman that represented of it was pretty similar to my grandmother... Margarita symbolism in carlism also

If you are interested in the topic, Paul Elam, is posting ICMI 2024 speakers and their essays on his YouTube channel of the same name. Some very interesting speakers there.

How do you destroy women?
Give them everything they demand.

I'm SO TIRED of this internet/social media theme of ''unhappy women''. Those of us in the REAL world don't know or see these people. The fact that someone is quoting a COLLEGE PROFESSOR is proof-NO ONE cares what they say and anyone old enough realizes how crazy they are.

The “G” in her name is silent, sounds like “Pah-lia”.

Why qualify it with modern or contemporary? This is a no true Scotsman fallacy.
If you remove the criticisms there is no positive aspects left.
If we are to charitably define feminism as female advocacy. Can women agree on what they want that is not born out of envy?

Paglia has always been a breath of fresh air.

You don't have to agree with everything she says (and she says a lot), but she always makes you think.
