I love this scene because it shows how opportunistic Truth is. Not only did he finally remove Regret from the picture, but a convenient Flood spore takes out his only other rival. His absolute, undivided power is reflected in Tartarus' obedience to not save Mercy, a noble hierarch of equal political standing.

I know I'm late, but in my opinion this is extremely incompetent of Truth. He should have had enough common sense by this point to assume the flood are able to use their host for knowledge. I'm sure this is how Gravemind knew a lot of his tactics.
