You can place mushrooms on mycelium and podzol.

You can have mushrooms in daylight if either
A: ON bedrock i think the fallen trees spawn with mushrooms under sunlight
B: IF You place a mushroom at night and sleep the mushroom doesnt break unless the block gets updated

Im not sure if B works on jaca tho
