The Carolina Panthers (2-6, 3-5 ATS, 3-5 O/U) collide with the Cincinnati Bengals (4-4, 5-3 ATS, 2-5 O/U) in an inter-conference battle on Sunday afternoon. The Panthers were dealt an overtime road loss against the Falcons last week. The Bengals were clobbered by the Browns on Monday night. These foes last met in 2018 in a game the Panthers won 31-21.
Carolina Defeated in OT, Seeks First Road Win
The Carolina Panthers are seeking their first road win of the season. Carolina beat the Bucs by a convincing 21-3 score on October 23rd. The Panthers have been involved in several close games on the road, losing to the Giants by three points early in the season in September and were 4.5-point dogs in a 37-34 overtime road loss in Atlanta last week. Carolina has only covered the spread in one of their three road games.
The Panthers have been decimated by injuries to their QBs. Sam Darnold is on the IR and is not expected to be ready. Baker Mayfield has missed the last three games with an ankle injury and served as the backup last week. PJ Walker was stellar in the win against Tampa Bay and got the start against the Falcons. He was sharp, recording 317 passing yards. The 27-year-old QB has 614 passing yards along with a 3:1 TD-to-INT ratio. Walker has been named the starter for this game.
Carolina traded Christian McCaffrey a few weeks ago and Chuba Hubbard did not play last week due to an injury and is questionable. It was D’Onta Foreman taking the carries again last week and he was outstanding, rushing for 118 yards. The 26-year-old RB has logged 273 rushing yards on the season. DJ Moore had his best game of the season against the Falcons, bringing in 118 yards. The 25-year-old WR leads the squad with 425 receiving yards. The Carolina offense has fared well in their last two games especially considering the injuries.
The Panthers' defense has been hit or miss. They held the Buccaneers to just three points but followed that up by squandering 406 total yards against the Falcons last week. They stand 20th against the pass and 23rd against the run. Carolina is scoring an average of 19.8 points, landing them 22nd overall. They are conceding an average of 23.3 points, pegging them 21st in the NFL.

Bengals Routed against Browns, Eye First Place
The Cincinnati Bengals' inconsistent play continues. They have yet to resemble the squad that dominated last season but the good news is they are only one game behind first-place Baltimore. Cincy had their two-game winning streak erased in an ugly 32-13 road loss in Cleveland on Monday in a bout that had the Bengals favored by three points. They have covered the spread in five out of their last six games.
Joe Burrow is playing well. The 25-year-old QB has eclipsed 300 passing yards in two out of his last three games and has only thrown one interception in his last three bouts. Burrow has collected 2329 passing yards accompanied by a 17:6 TD to INT-ratio.
The Bengals do not run often and rank near the bottom in rushing yards. Joe Mixon only posted 27 rushing yards last week and has 432 yards on an average of only 3.3 yards per carry. Ja’Marr Chase (hip) did not play last week and is out until next month. The star WR leads the squad with 605 yards. It will be Tee Higgins seeing an increase in targets as a result. The 23-year-old WR brought in 49 receiving yards last week and has recorded 504 receiving yards on the year. The Cincinnati offense will likely need more production on the ground considering the absence of Chase.
The Bengals' defense has been effective in most games but has not fared well in two out of their last three clashes. They squandered 440 total yards last week and struggled to contain the run, allowing 170 rushing yards. They rank 15th against the pass and have dipped to 21st in rush defense. Cornerbacks Tre Flowers and Mike Hilton did not practice on Thursday. Cincinnati is scoring an average of 23.3 points, landing them 13th overall. They are limiting opponent
