Nice one Rob 👍👍👍 Using old belt sander belts as soft jaws was one of the best tips ever. You should treat yourself to an ER40 collet chuck and say half a dozen ER40 collets between 20mm and 30mm. Having the ability to hold work up to 30mm in a collet is really useful. Some guy I know on YouTube converted me over to collets a few years ago and I never looked back 🤣🤣 Cheers, Alan.

Thore raw hide mallet is wonderful for suck work no chance of marking anything and works wonders with how precise it is for alignment.

Would putting the parting tool on the other side of the toolpost give you enough room?

I've been using a knocker from Randy Richards in the Shop. Its a lead shot filled stainless cylinder with copper and delrin end caps.
