I love your no nonsense logical point of view and calling out crap where you see it! Awesome!

I have felt this way. I feel like I have less and less time as I go, but this isn't something I think that needs to be done in one sitting, just like writing the song. There are exceptions and I have heard if you don't write the song in five minutes or something it isn't going to work, but there needs to be perspective, most songs are collaborated, changed and reworked, rearragned, and rewritten before they are finished. So learning a song, to make it as close to you as possible, will require sessions and practice and recital, and I guarantee, when you have learned this song and perform it, the nature in which you learned it will come out in how you perform it and there will be a sense of accomplishment that you don't get from just using tablatures. One of the best things I have found to get me away from tabs was Chordify. It scrolls the song with the chords without a tablature allowing you to ear train without the tunnel vision of the tablature.

RUSH rules. I've never been to NAMM, and have wanted to go since 1989. I look forward to this video on transcribing, Rodney. Mike aka mb94952 from the US Cirrus Club.

Wow. So.. What I am hearing is recording yourself allows you to be simultaneously the player and the audience.. WOW...

Momma says tabs are the devil.
You can't see what a note sounds like.
Nothing replaces dropping the needle...(or the virtual needle) over and over again.
Perfectly explained and you nailed every point!
Looking forward to seein ya brother!

Well said!! I have been on a Bilmuri kick and been playing through their catalog, using my headphones and turning my bass amp enough to hear my bass just perfectly in the musical mix so it feels like I'm being the bass player, its how I have Always learned songs and like you said, you get so much from it, Bilmuri isn't difficult but they feel soo good to play and I can just connect with their songs so much it makes me get emotional at times. Great content Rodney !!! Beard and hair is looking cool!! 🤘

I saw a rush cover band called caress of steel. They were incredible. Three players and 70’s costumes. Music executed correctly. It was a rush experience. .

You're a great communicator as usual in all your videos. Quick question, I have no CD player anymore. Just Amazon music streaming service. How do I get a track into a daw like Reaper?

Using tools I had not thought of using. Wow. This unlocks my brain. Used to reading to get the note sequence and then listening to get the nuances. Takes sooo much time that way. Putting this in the middle gets you there much faster and less frustratedly. So grateful! And what apps were those, again?

Hi, Rodney. In one of your videos I've seen Source Audio Ultrawave. Is there going to be full review about this pedal any soon?
There is a sale with good price on it, but it's in another city, so there is now way for me to listen to it before buying and according to the laws in my country I can't just refund such items if they're fully functional.
In theory multi-band processing should work awesome for modern metal bass tone, but in practice the result might be underwhelming. So far most of the demos of these pedals show a lot of different weird sounds, but not so much for something more usual.

Good tips but not really sure about how you slow the song...if I drop any song in an empty project it does not warped to that bpm. The only way I've found is using the context menu and adjust the Speedup value but that's not a bpm value. How do you make it slow exactly?

I found an app last night for only Apple that does instrument isolation called "transcibe+", there are some web based apps that can do this trick as well but have subscription fees. I don't think it will pull out perfect stems of recordings but it might be an effective tool if you have trouble finding parts in the mix.

Hey Rodney. I found a new to me computer app that splits a song to up to 5 different parts that can allow me to listen to just the bass. Look up Spleeter. I am using it for such that purpose

Tip number one, have no significant other, no job, and a lot of free time.

I've been relying on tabs for a long time. I use "official" tabs by Ultimate Guitar (I have a premium subscription). Are tabs still garbage if they are 100% accurate? How do I get rid of using tabs? I am very willing to abandon tabs and develop my ear. Where do I start? By the way: a lot of pianists, trumpeters, horn players etc. rely on sheet music. Are they doing it wrong as well?

Wow, what a horrible tab, it reminds me of a guitarrist that tried to do a bassline for a song and gave me a tab just like that.
