Just A Shave: Homelike Shaving Taiga - Gillette Silver Blue - Stirling Carmichael - DG B1 Franko
Показать описание
This one was to try out a thicker lather with this highly dense brush.
And the new scent from Stirling, Carmichael.
Razor: Homelike Shaving - Taiga (Stainless) (Setting 1)
Blade: Gillette - Silver Blue (10)
Lather: Stirling - Carmichael
Brush: Declaration Grooming - B1 Franklin Unicorn Ivory (3 uses)
Post: Stirling - Dunshire
*Razor and Blade Notes* - Homelike Shaving - Taiga (Stainless) (Setting 1) ::: Gillette - Silver Blue (10 uses):
Another good blade for this razor, it seems. Sure was comfy when shaving. But by the end, I was experiencing some irritation on my neck and that tender feel that you get when your lather wasn't slick/protective enough.
So that could have been the Blade generating that irritation, but I think it was the relatively-dry lather.
The first pass was very effective and the razor moved through the hair with ease. IT got better after that, with a nice comfy and smooth 2nd and 3rd passes.
Razor and Blade Performance/Comfort Rating: 3 out of 5 (Good)
*Soap Notes* - Stirling - Carmichael:
Them: "very sensual with notes of leather, vanilla, and powder up front. It is perfect for day or night. All together, it has top notes of green tea, bergamot, and rose, a woody middle of sandalwood, cedar, and jasmine, and a base of leather, vanilla, amber, musk, and oakmoss. Inspired by Bvlgari Black"
Scent: Even in an above-average concentration, this scent was not strong at all. Hard to perceive, really. I got light wafts here and there, of maybe the leather and powder and woods.
I liked what I smelled of it, but I guess I'd have to rely on the splash or EDT to really savor the scent.
Scent Strength: 3/10, lightly present during shaving.
Lather: I put about 3-4 times as much soap in the lather bowl as I need, to work up a way thick lather, in the hopes of adding in more material between the brush bristles, so that I get easier splay.
Sure, it was opaque and looked good. but I could feel the slowness of it even in the brush, and of course with the razor and blade. The slickness just wasn't there, and consequently, neither was good protection.
Hydration: Way Too Dry (for me)
* 0.75 tsp soap with a Lightly-Wet brush
* 0 tsp added to make lather
* = 9 passes of lather
Bowl: Roger Quintero 3D Printed Bowl
I use the XL version of this bowl.
*Brush Notes* - Declaration Grooming - B1 Franklin Unicorn Ivory (3 uses):
Not quite as dense as in the recent attempts with my normal consistency of lather, because of the much thicker lather. But just a small change.
**Shave Quality**
During the Shave Feel:
Cheeks: Felt blade but comfortable
Neck: Light irritation showed up at end
After the Shave Closeness:
Cheeks: Near BBS - About as close as I'll ever get
Neck: Few hairs are showing some tip length (with most being cut flush)
Wetshaving is the age-old shaving method where you create a lather from a soap or cream, usually with a brush. And these days, we also usually mean using a safety razor (aka double edge or DE) or single edge or straight razor to remove the hair. We often enjoy less irritated skin, healthier skin, more enjoyable shaves, and often closer shaves than those who use a multi-bladed cartridge and canned shaving foam.
