Excellent development. Just curious, do you think it' s easier to concieve an ammonia based fuel cell or a methanol one ?

Interesting video, could you explain why at min 7:00 the marine application has a methanol to power efficiency of 45-55 %, while an automobile methanol FC is "only" 40-45% efficient (4:30) ? Is it only the different economy of scale between a small power system (7-25 kW) vs a more powerful one (~ 200 kW) ?

German engineer Roland Gumpert that already invented the Audi Quattro all-wheel drive and got famous for a race in the 50s is selling a methanol electric supercar starting this year.
Roughly EUR, 460000 USD. 500 exemplaries.
0-100 km/h in 2.5 s, 300 km/h top speed, 800 km range at 130 km/h, 1200 km range at 80 km/h. Obviously much less if you go much faster.
Similar price per km as with BEVs, i.e. much cheaper than with a combustion engine.

If we assumed economics of scale the production cost of a simpler car for average end consumers it would have a price point similar to BEVs.
In the end actually slightly cheaper but BEVs have a slightly better price per km.
Both technologies deserve to exist and be used.

Anytime better & efficient then methanol based IC engines. Maritime industry should consider this seriously. But I think it will be more efficient to change our power grid system to DC in case we use Fuel cell's on board.
