Steiger Tractor Big Baling Straw

Big Tractor Power is out in a Western New York wheat field with a Case IH STX325 Steiger tractor and New Holland BB940A Big Baler baling straw. A CAT TH360B Ag Handler collects the bales of straw and places them in a Ford Aeromax Dump Truck.

Good stuff BTP. We just recently got into the big square baler business. We're pulling a Case IH 8575 silage special with the IH 5288. Makes a pretty good pair.

I pull my Krone 12130 big square baler with a Massey 4880. With that kind of power, bale density is no issue. I'm also in New England so the rolling hills are no longer a concern while dragging 13 metric tons or better yet being pushed around by it.

No problem with using an overpowered tractor. In busy times like spring and harvest you use what is available, to get the job done. :)

Nice video. Could be a bit longer but anyway nice to see a baler in action. Bit weird to see a dump truck used to transport bales. So used to flatbed trailers here in Ireland.

For everyone watching saying the ih is over kill with the baler it really isn't older machines like that have less power even though they are big and he probably doesn't pay in the tractor any more so he just used that.

i'm sure that's work fine. but is there any really reason to run a Steiger on the baler? 😀 to us is like we bale with 2 wd we ploug with 2 wd we pulling grain cart with 2 wd😂 and other guys rake hay with 4wd ore someting 😅

The problem with this setup is light flywheel of this baler, (in range of 240 to 300 Kg) and certain elements driven by chains and sprockets. Even this guy has double the HP needed for this baler the engine is pulsing on each plunger stroke because of poor power transfered to compress the bale. I mean look at the guy baling, going forward and back in his seat.

That’s a neat and unique set up. I assume the truck can back up and dump them off somewhere kinda like a bale wagon.
